One game was adjourned Wednesday. It's Josh's tun playing White against Anton. Josh is up a piece but Anton has 4 extra pawns. Which side do you think is winning?

TOURNAMENTS

Here are some of the tournaments available. Any of you can go (though I'd advise waiting til your rating reaches 300 if you want a chance to win a game) We will try to select about 4 of these to attend as a tem - grade levels need 3 players, Team vs Team needs 5.
We could also join a league where we played after school or on Saturdays five-on-five
There's also the Minnesota State Chess Championships for Jr. High and High School, but I don't have a date or location for that yet - last year it was late March at the Crowne Plaza

Chess movie on TV Mon

"Brooklyn Castle", a documentary on the best Jr. High chess team (I think they recently passed up Burnsville Metcalf as the school with the most Nation Championships) in the country, will be aired on PBS 2.1 Mon. Oct 7 from 9:00-10:30

Although we had a few upsets at chess club today, basically no-one changed positions except Evan move up one spot and Oliver and Annikka moved up while Angela had to leave early.

October 19 - Tournament in Champlin
Nov 2 Tournament in Burnsville ( We hope to have some teams)

6th grade - maybe by Nov 2, we'll have 3 - recruit your friends
5th grade - doesn't look like we're strong enough yet, but wait until you've had a year of lessons & practice.
