We had a scoring discrepancy on Saturday. Dan Keis said he got a draw with Ryler McDowell in round 3, but it officially went down that Ryler won. This happened to Thomas last tournament too, but we got it straightened out quickly.
How can you prevent this?
#1 When you report the results, watch the person write it down. Make sure they have it right.
#2 When the next round is posted, first look at the standings to make sure it went into the computer correctly. If there is a problem, report it to the tournament director at the front table immediately. That would be Iric Lampert (or Robert Plunkett last week). They will probably tell all of your section to stop playing and the computer will re-pair everyone.
#3 Unfortunately if a computer entry error is made in the last round, there is no way to tell until it is too late, but if you're supposed to get a trophy and the kid you beat in the last round is getting a trophy, it might be wise to speak up at that point. "Wait! I beat you in the last round. How many wins did you have? Three? I had four. I think there's a mistake."
#4 If your name is spelled wrong, or your school is now different, let someone at the scorer's table know and they'll get it fixed. If your name is spelled wrong or your grade is wrong on this blog, let me know.

Tournament Resuls
The Friendly Hill Chess Team did OK at the tournament. The final results are not yet available. We ended up with more wins than losses for our top three, which is what counts for the team score. We slightly underperformed, which means if we were to do this again, we'd probably do a bit better, but it also shows we still have some work to do.

There is a tournament Saturday,. A number of you are going.
WHO: Anyone rate 300 and up can come But you need to play at the 400 level to be able to win 1, 600 to win 2, 800 to win 3, 1000 to win 4 and 1400 to win 5.
WHERE: Metcalf Jr. High in Burnsfville (Cedar and Diffley)
WHEN: Register Before 8:30 on Saturday Dec. 8.
HOW MUCH: The school is not covering this one. The cost is $18 ($20 for first-timers). Bring $5 for lunch
I hope to see some of you there. Three in a grade makes a team.

Bring lunch of $5 for lunch. Also bring a chess set if you own one like we use at school.
