Match Results

Friendly Hills 2½  Metcalf C 2½  with wins by Luke and Graham and a draw by Elijah
Friendly Hills ½  Salem Hills 4½ with a draw by Luke
Since I do not have ratings for your opponents (not to mention that I don't even know who you played) I added 10 points for a win, subtracted 10 for a loss, no change for a draw and add 3 points for a scrimmage game for extra players.

Next week at Friendly Hills we take on Metcalf A and Metcalf B

Match Friday
Gather your stuff quickly and head to the cafeteria at 3:24
Owen will come find the 4 of you and take you to Metcalf.

Bring your IPAD and make sure it's charged. Our website has a link to a chess clock ap. Set it for 30 minutes with a five second delay or as instructed by Mr. Ribnik. Familiarize yourself with the ap.
I will try to remember to supply notation paper and pencils.

SE Division of the Minnesota Junior High Chess League

We will be joining a chess league competing against other schools in the area. We need our top five players, but we'll undoubtedly need 2 or 3 subs on occasion. Extra players are welcome to come and play other team's extra players for a scrimmage game. Parents will need to get together to arrange transportation to and from the matches.
Teams: Metcalf A, B and C, Salem Hills, Friendly Hills, Faithful Shepherd.
We might need to get out 10 minutes early on Metcalf days.
Jan 25 at Metcalf 3:30-5:40
Feb 1 at Friendly Hills 3:30-5:40
Feb 8 at Metcalf 3:30-5:40
The format is our top 5 face another school's top 5. Team that wins 3 games wins the match.
Rules: Touch move. All games must be notated. All games will use clocks if available - find the chess clock on your IPad and become familiar with it. I'll bring a couple clocks, your opponents may have some, etc.

Chess Tournament tomorrow at Burnsville Metcalf

If we have 5 there we can play in the eam vs team which is always a fun tournament - good practice for our upcoming matches. If we don't have 5 you can still play in the regular sections.
